Gardner is the second most rapidly-growing communities in the metropolitan area. The city dates back 150 years to 1857 when it was founded by settlers along the Santa Fe and Oregon trails. Gardner is committed to maintaining it's traditional, small-town values while striving to achieve constant growth and development. Edgerton is mostly comprised of homes and a few churches. You won't find shopping or many activities to do here. It's a charming community and a great place to reside.
The purpose of the Gardner Parks and Recreation Department is to establish, preserve and manage public parks, greenways, and recreation facilities and to offer a variety of activities to benefit and enrich the quality of life for the people of the community. One for instance is Gardner Lake; a residential community in Johnson County. The lake is ideally located one mile from two golf courses, near major highways, and minutes away from Gardner.
